In addition to the special Shengxiao collection of coins to mark the Chinese New Year, the UK’s Royal Mint also produces special annual versions of its Britannia silver bullion coin to commemorate the Chinese lunar new year.
Like the normal Britannia bullion coin, the Britannia Lunar Series bullion coins feature a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, with the current coins featuring an image designed by Jody Clark.
The reverse of the coin features Philip Nathan’s elegant design of Britannia, standing on a windswept shore with waves at her feet, with her trident, shield, and olive branch in her hands.
Unlike the normal Britannia coins which have a reeded edge, the Lunar coins feature a smooth edge with privy marks incused around the edge. Each year’s privy mark features an animal from the Chinese zodiac.
These limited edition privy mark coins have always been popular with investors, and because older coins are no longer in production, this could be your last chance to get your hands on these special coins.
Older coins in this series are no longer being produced, but Goldco still has limited supplies of these silver coins. This could be your last chance to add some of the beautiful coins in this series to your investment portfolio.
