In addition to the special Shengxiao collection of coins to mark the Chinese New Year, the UK’s Royal Mint also produces special versions of its Britannia silver bullion coin to commemorate the Chinese lunar new year.
The reverse of the coin features Philip Nathan’s elegant design of Britannia, standing on a windswept shore with waves at her feet, with her trident, shield, and olive branch in her hands.
Like the normal Britannia bullion coin, the 2018 Silver Lunar Britannia Dog bullion coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
Unlike the normal Britannia coins which have a reeded edge, the Lunar coins feature a smooth edge with privy marks incused around the edge. For 2018, the privy mark features a dog privy mark, to commemorate the Year of the Dog.
These special privy mark coins were only minted for a short time, and supplies are extremely limited. Don’t miss out on your chance to add this special coin to your precious metals holdings.
